Why Don't We Just Dance

Jacob and Taylor exchanged their vows on October 26, 2024, at Old Bethany in Bruceville, Texas, surrounded by family and friends. Despite the hot, sunny conditions typical of Central Texas, the couple found solace in the cool, air-conditioned venue. Sunlight streamed through the windows, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere as they promised to share their lives together. The love and joy in the room were palpable, making it a memorable day for everyone in attendance.

As Jacob entered the ceremony with his groomsmen in tow, there was excitement in the air. The bridesmaids began walking down the aisle, and among them was Mila, the beloved pup of Jacob and Taylor, bringing smiles to all. The white barn doors stood closed, creating an air of anticipation, knowing that in just a few moments, they would slide open to reveal Taylor walking down the aisle with her father. Her wedding gown, a breathtaking vision, fit her perfectly, and the joy evident on her face was reflected in the eyes of everyone gathered, eagerly awaiting this cherished moment.

how it all began…

Jacob and Taylor both worked at HEB and met on Halloween, a day filled with festive energy and creativity. Jacob approached Taylor, intrigued by her costume that stood out among their coworkers. Their conversation flowed easily as they discussed the inspiration behind her costume. What began as a simple inquiry about attire quickly blossomed into a meaningful connection, sparking the beginning of a friendship that would grow stronger with each passing day.

Their first date began with an undeniable sense of excitement as they met at the vibrant arcade, surrounded by the sounds of laughter and ringing games. They played a few games before heading to Texas Roadhouse, where the warm, rustic atmosphere and the aroma of delicious food welcomed them. Over plates of food and freshly baked bread, they shared stories and laughter, creating a memorable evening that marked the start of something special

During the dinner conversation, Taylor revealed her extreme clumsiness, a fact she found amusing yet nerve-wracking on this particular date. Her nerves got the best of her, causing her to barely touch her meal. After dinner, Jacob kindly dropped her off at her car, but just as she was getting settled in, she accidentally dropped her leftover steak right onto the floorboard. The moment caught them both off guard, but it eventually became a cherished memory they still laugh about today..

the proposal…

On their one-year anniversary of dating, Jacob and Taylor decided to celebrate at Texas Roadhouse, a favorite spot for its lively atmosphere and hearty meals. Jacob surprised Taylor by asking if her parents could join them, a request that seemed perfectly natural to her given his close bond with his own family. After enjoying a delightful dinner filled with laughter and good food, they stepped out into the warm evening air. In the quiet of the parking lot, Jacob looked into Taylor’s eyes, his expression earnest and filled with love, and proposed, turning what started as a simple anniversary dinner into a moment they would cherish forever.

Today…

Jacob and Taylor cherish their time together at home, whether they are curled up on the couch watching a movie or engaged in a spirited board game match. Their connection runs deep, creating an atmosphere of safety and support that allows both of them to truly be themselves. They describe their relationship as loving, fun, and joyous, highlighting the solid foundation they have built over time. Each moment spent together is a reminder of how wonderful their bond is, and they take joy in the simple pleasures of shared laughter and friendly competition, reinforcing the strength of their partnership.

“The Office” perfectly encapsulates their life together, as they first crossed paths in a workplace reminiscent of Dunder Mifflin, where laughter and camaraderie thrived. Like the show's characters, we found joy in the mundane and created our own inside jokes, turning daily tasks into shared adventures. Our mutual sense of humor deepened our connection, making work the backdrop for both collaboration and fun. Whether we’re quoting favorite lines or embracing the quirky dynamics of our co-workers, the spirit of “The Office” serves as a constant reminder of the laughter that brought us together and continues to enrich our relationship.

The song "Why Don't We Just Dance" by Josh Turner holds a special place in their hearts as a couple. Every time the upbeat melody fills the kitchen, it transforms their home into a lively dance floor. They're drawn to the simplicity and joy portrayed in the lyrics, which reflect their own relationship. Together, they sway to the music, laughing and enjoying each other's company, creating cherished memories that reinforce their bond. The kitchen, often a hub of daily life, becomes a sanctuary of love and connection, all thanks to this cherished tune.

Smith Family Photography extends heartfelt wishes to Jacob and Taylor for a long life together filled with love and happiness. Being present at their wedding as photographers was an amazing experience, allowing us to capture the essence of their special day. The memories we documented will provide their family with countless moments to cherish and reminisce about for many years to come. We are honored to have been part of such a beautiful celebration.

I've Got Your Six

April 29, 2023 was a beautiful spring day complete with bright, blue skies and warm rays of sunshine filling the air. It was a gorgeous day for a wedding! Jonathon and Monica would exchange vows in Fairfield, Texas at The Venue at G Bar Ranch surrounded by family and friends.

Where it all began…

Monica and Jonathon met through mutual friends at an Aaron Watson concert at the Heart of Texas Fair and Rodeo in Waco on October 5, 2019. The two of them were good friends with Chad Walker, a fellow Texas State Trooper. Chad played matchmaker that night as he introduced Monica and Jonathon to each other. Jonathon soon told Chad that he wanted to buy the “girl with the pretty eyes” a beer, but he didn’t have any money on him. Chad was a great wing-man and gave Jonathon the money to buy the “girl with the pretty eyes” a beer. From that point on, Monica and Jonathon were inseparable! From that point on there was an ongoing joke among their friends, “Thanks to Chad for buying that girl a beer for Jonathon.”

Jonathon was essentially Chad’s “other” son and was basically about to move in at the Walker Farms before meeting Monica. She likes to think that meeting Jonathon changed his whole world and redirected his course in life. In 2021, they lost their good friend Chad, but they know he has been with them every step of the way. The two of them hold onto memories of Chad as they are very special to them. If it wasn’t for Chad, they would have never met each other that night. It was all God’s plan.

Monica and Jonathon enjoyed each other’s company so much at the concert that they decided to have lunch together the next day at Frankie’s Italian Restaurant in Mexia. After lunch they took a drive out to Jonathon’s deer lease.

The proposal…

Monica and Jonathon had been planning a night out with their friends on March 4, 2022. They were going to enjoy a concert at the Backyard Bar Stage and Grill in Waco. They all met at a hotel before dinner and the concert. It was then and there that Jonathon would ask Monica for her hand in marriage. Monica had no idea a proposal was coming that night, but says it was perfect as they were surrounded by a group of their closest friends. They all celebrated immensely that night!

During the next year, the two of them remained inseparable. They truly cherish their time together. They love crawfish season and can often be found at Tejun the Texas Cajun or the Crawfish Hideaway. They also enjoy just sitting in their shop at the house listening to music while cooking some type of meat on the smoker.

The wedding…

I was so excited about Monica and Jonathon’s wedding day! I met them for the first time at their engagement session during the summer of 2022. They wanted a rustic location for their session so I suggested our family ranch in Personville. We arrived out there and the grass was tall - much taller than I anticipated. I apologized to them and they were reassured me that it was fine. They were not bothered the least bit about that tall grass! At that moment I knew they were going to be amazing clients!

Throughout the session I watched Monica and Jonathon interact with one another in a way that is difficult to explain. They truly look at each other in a way that tells you how they feel about each other. You have to see it to understand. It’s more than love. It’s a deep connection to each other. This was the same interaction I witnessed at their wedding. Not only did I get to witness this connection between them again, I also witnessed their interactions with their family and friends. You can tell that their family and friends mean the world to them, as do they to their family and friends.

Before the wedding, Monica wanted to do a first look with her parents, her bridesmaids and her future mother-in-law. I love that she thought of Jonathon’s mother and wanted to create a special time for her before the ceremony!

During the ceremony, an empty chair with their beloved friend’s hat and a photo of Jonathon and Chad was placed near the altar by Jonathon’s side. Chad brought them together and it was important that Chad was there next to them on this special day.

The reception was complete with lots of dancing and laughter between the guests and the happily married couple. Monica’s family has a tradition that continued on with their wedding. The guys all sing “Family Tradition” by Hank Williams Jr. karaoke style followed the the girls singing “I Feel Like a Woman” by Shania Twain. Such a fun tradition that I hope continues on for generations to come!

Monica and Jonathon both shine brightly on their own, but together it’s twice as bright. If you know them, you know exactly what I mean. It’s contagious. And it’s absolutely breathtaking.

Let your light shine. Be a source of strength and courage. Share your wisdom. Radiate love.
