7 Tips for the Perfect Wedding Day Timeline

A wedding timeline is an essential part of any wedding planning process. It helps to ensure that everything runs smoothly on the big day and that all of the important events happen at the right time. Without a timeline, it is easy for things to fall behind schedule or for important events to be missed altogether.

There are many different ways to create a wedding timeline. Some couples choose to hire a wedding planner to help them create a detailed timeline, while others prefer to do it themselves. There are also many online resources that can help you create a timeline.

Tip #1 - Consider the Logistics

  • The time of day and date of your wedding

  • The location of your wedding

  • The number of guests you are expecting

  • The type of wedding you are having (traditional, casual, etc.)

  • The budget you have set for your wedding

Once you have considered these factors, you can start to put together a timeline that works for you and your partner. It is important to be flexible with your timeline, as things may not always go according to plan on the day of your wedding. However, having a timeline will help to ensure that you are prepared for anything and that you can enjoy your special day without stress.

Tip #2 - Make Your Day, Your Day

Your wedding day is unique, as it should be. No two weddings are the same so why should you copy someone else’s timeline. Make your day, your day! Start from scratch and keep it vague so you have room to add details as planning continues. Consider how much time your photographer will be at the wedding and decide when you want them to arrive and leave AND what events you want captured during that time.

Below are the “bare-bone timelines” I suggest to my wedding clients based upon each package we offer.

Tip #3 - Create Buffers

Make sure to leave some time as a buffer for those unexpected things that you didn’t plan for, such as signing the marriage certificate, bustling your dress, restroom breaks, etc. If you plan everything too tightly you will more than likely fall behind at some point during your wedding day.

Tip #4 - Let Them Eat and Drink…Unless You Need Them to Stick Around

At some point you will more than likely have a designated portrait time. During this time it is VERY important that guests continue to the reception area UNLESS they will be in the photographs. This will keep the distractions to a minimum, but more importantly keep everyone out of the photographer’s way so they aren’t in your portraits. Portrait time is about 30 minutes and during this time you don’t want your guests sitting there with nothing to do. Instead let them begin eating and drinking so they’re ready to celebrate upon your arrival.

Tip #5 - Share Your Timeline

Once your timeline is finalized, share it with the vendors - especially the photographer, videographer and music/entertainment. These vendors are vital in keeping your wedding day on schedule.

Tip #6 - Do Not Underestimate the Importance of Your Timeline

It is important to create a wedding timeline as it is an essential part of the planning process and will help to ensure that your special day is everything you have dreamed of. Here are some of the benefits of having a wedding timeline:

  • It helps to ensure that everything runs smoothly on the day of your wedding.

  • It helps to prevent important events from being missed.

  • It helps to keep you and your guests on schedule.

  • It can help you to save money by avoiding last-minute expenses.

  • It can help you to reduce stress on the day of your wedding.

Tip #7 - Have FUN!!

This is a huge milestone for you! It can certainly be stressful, but with some planning it can be a manageable task that will be the framework for your wedding day. Take time to breathe. Take time to reflect on what YOU want your day to look like and figure out HOW to make that happen. And have FUN!!

On My Way To You

December 10, 2022

Lauren and Kalyn would become Mr. and Mrs. Brown during their wedding ceremony at the First United Methodist Church in Groesbeck, Texas. Afterwards they would celebrate with their family and friends at their reception at the Groesbeck Convention Center.

Although it was December, the weather was extremely mild. It was actually perfect for a wedding! There sun would peek out from the clouds periodically and there was a slight breeze that blew just enough to keep the air moving.

Lauren and Kalyn met through a dating app and later had their first date at a local Mexican restaurant. That date lasted over FOUR hours! The two of them talked and listened to each other the entire time. They said they were instantly comfortable with each other so their first date never felt like a “first date.”

The two of them continued their courtship and as each day passed, they fell deeper in love. Eventually Kalyn decided that he’d love to spend the rest of his life with Lauren. He wanted to propose to her, but wanted to make it special and include her late dad in some way.

One day Kalyn asked Lauren if there was a place that reminded her of being with her dad. Lauren told him that it would be the big Aggie ring on the Texas A & M University campus in College Station, Texas. When Lauren was ordering her Aggie ring, her dad commented that the ring was so cool and he wished he had that when he graduated. This gave Kalyn an idea!

January 15, 2022 - Kalyn asked Lauren to be his friend forever

Kalyn asked his family, Lauren’s family and some of Lauren’s closest friends to surprise her at the giant ring on Kalyn asked his family, my family and some of my closest friends to surprise me at the giant ring on campus. He was waiting for Lauren, down on one knee under the big Aggie ring! When Lauren approached Kalyn, he asked, “Do you wanna be my friend forever? “ Lauren said, “YES!” She thought it was so special that he tried to include her late father.

I met Lauren and Kalyn in February of 2022 on a very cold day! The sun was shining brightly that afternoon for their session. You’d never know the day started off with snow! Their engagement session was so full of laughter that I knew they were going to have an amazing wedding!

Lauren is a VERY organized individual which made the entire wedding flow seamlessly! She literally thought of everything, which included several meaningful details that included her late father in the wedding. One of his neckties was even used in her bouquet. It was beautiful and brought tears to her eyes when she saw it for the first time. She also planned a first look with her brothers who would later walk her down the aisle to stand next to Kalyn as they exchanged vows. During the Daddy Daughter Dance at the reception Lauren danced with each of her brothers and then her uncle joined in as well. Many tears were shed. Her father was definitely loved by many and it was incredibly special to Lauren, as well as many others, to have him included throughout her wedding day.

Lauren and Kalyn truly love spending time with one another. Their relationship is wholesome and based upon trust, undeniable love and compromise. Their first dance was “On My Way To You” by Cody Johnson. They chose this song because it’s about battling through everything in life and leading them both to finding each other.

They’re a beautiful couple that has the love and support of their family and friends surrounding them. They are truly blessed.

When love exists on a soul level, it becomes something else entirely. Unfathomable, unbreakable, undeniable. Eternal.

November 12, 2022

The sun was brightly shining in the deep blue sky and tried to warm up the breezy air that carried a chill as Bianca and Ricky were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mexia, Texas.

St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mexia, Texas

I first met Bianca and Ricky at their engagement session at Fort Parker State Park in Mexia, Texas. At some point during their session I asked them how they met. They told me that they’ve known each other for many years because Ricky was a close friend of Bianca’s brother. They were good friends during high school, played football together and even working together at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts for a couple of years. They told me that it took them so long to become a couple because of that friendship. Eventually they decided to see where things would go between them and they made plans to go on their first date.

One Sunday they went to an ice cream shop where they shared fruit and ice cream and then took a walk in Cameron Park and climbed Jacob’s Ladder. Things went well and they were both definitely interested in each other. They continued dating and learning all they could about one another for the next two years.

On December 9, 2020 Bianca and Ricky were celebrating their two year anniversary by eating dinner at Bianca’s favorite restaurant, Texas Roadhouse. Afterwards they went for a walk in Downtown Waco and saw some electric scooters. They decided to rent two of them and go for a ride instead. As they were riding through Downtown Waco, Ricky realized the ring was no longer in his pocket. The search was on - secretly! Bianca had no idea about the ring. She had no idea it was missing. All she knew was the scooter ride kept going. Finally Ricky found it! They parked the scooters and continued their walk, eventually ending up at the big Christmas Tree in Heritage Square. They were taking photos together and just enjoying the anniversary celebration. Ricky kneeled on one knee and proposed.

In August of 2022 I had the pleasure of spending the morning with Bianca and Ricky during their engagement session. The two of them were so sweet with each other and the way they smiled at each other throughout the session was beautiful! I knew their wedding was going to be nothing short of amazing!

And their wedding did not disappoint! The entire day was not only gorgeous, but filled with so much love with their family and friends surrounding them. The wedding ceremony was a formal church ceremony followed by an entertaining reception at the Groesbeck Convention Center. The reception was complete with a delicious meal enjoyed while a mariachi band played music and lots of love, laughter and happy tears continued throughout the evening.

Bianca and Ricky continue to enjoy spending time together whether that be at home enjoying Whataburger while watching a movie or painting together or going out to eat sushi followed by watching a movie. The two of them are incredibly comfortable together and feel safe when the other is around. They built their relationship on love, loyalty and supporting one another with kindness and strength.

Love is respect, respect is honesty, honesty is support, support is loyalty, loyalty is trust and trust is protection.

Put A Ring On It

People who care about each other enjoy doing things for one another.
— Ann Landers

October 22, 2022

MaClaya and Andrew were surrounded by family and friends as they exchanged vows in Hubbard, Texas at the rustic, yet charming, Old Town Hubbard.

Their very first meeting was actually an act of kindness on Andrew’s part in 2019. They were both inside a convenience store. MaClaya was in line to pay for her fuel when Andrew offered to pay. From the very beginning, their relationship began with doing something nice for the other person and that continued throughout their dating and was even evident on their wedding day.

The two of them went to the drive-in movie theater to watch Onward followed by a casual dinner at Taco Bell. They enjoyed spending time with each other as they learned about each other and shared many laughs. Today they continue to enjoy casual date nights with one another as they often watch a tv show or movie together as they share a meal. They particularly enjoy Grey’s Anatomy paired with pizza and wings!

Andrew proposed to MaClaya in 2021 during a dinner date one night after their work day ended. He surprised MaClaya with a brownie sundae complete with an engagement ring on the top! Not going to lie, this had me intrigued to SEE the proposal so off to Facebook I went to stalk MaClaya’s page and behold, I found the video!

When I asked MaClaya and Andrew to describe their relationship in five words, they replied, “adventurous, caring, supportive, fun and amazing.” I must say, I definitely agree with those descriptors!

Adventurous. MaClaya and Andrew went to Hawaii on their honeymoon and they certainly were adventurous doing all sorts of activities!

Caring…and Supportive. They not only care about each other immensely, but they care about their family and friends just as much. During their wedding it was easy to see where they both learned that behavior because everyone was incredibly caring from beginning to end. They worked together to create an amazing wedding for MaClaya and Andrew! They are truly blessed for having so much support surround them.

Fun. For their engagement session they requested some “awkward” photo poses. We all laughed so much the ENTIRE session! Their wedding didn’t include awkward photo poses, but it did include TONS of dancing! It was so much fun to watch everyone dance as they smiled and laughed the entire night!

Amazing. For all the reasons above, MaClaya and Andrew are an amazing couple that truly care about others.

I am beyond blessed that I was asked to capture memories of MaClaya and Andrew’s special day! Each wedding is unique and I am amazed at how well everything came together to make their day beautiful and absolutely perfect!

Some souls just understand each other upon meeting.

October 15, 2022. The day Emily and Justin exchanged vows in Hewitt, Texas at The Barn was absolutely gorgeous! The skies were a bright blue with puffy white clouds that floated by with the breeze.

Emily and Justin met at church and had their first date on Halloween night. The two of them had such a great time that they continued their relationship and learned as much as they could about each other. Most of the time this entailed enjoying each others company while relaxing as they shared their love of delicious meals.

Emily and Justin went on a trip to the Fredericksburg area and stayed in a cabin and during this trip, Justin would propose. They visited a flower garden (Emily used to work in a plant and flower nursery) and Justin proposed. Emily said, “Yes!”

Since that proposal in the flower garden, Emily and Justin have continued enjoying each others company and sense of humor. During their engagement session I had a front seat view of how much they love and care for each other. The two of them shared many laughs together and that was also visible at their wedding.

April 2022 - Emily and Justin’s engagement session

Emily even played a little trick on Justin during the garter toss during their reception! As Justin removed the garter from Emily’s leg, he felt a small bag. His face said, “What is this?” as he expected to find one thing - a garter. He pulled the garter off her leg and saw a snack size Cheetos bag with the garter! Emily was laughing the entire time! And Justin joined her after looking at the bag of Cheetos!

Although they share lots of laughs with each other, they share lots of love for each other, their family and their friends. Emily’s cousin’s 11th birthday was the day of the wedding. Emily surprised him by having everyone sing to him while Emily brought him a piece of cake with a candle in it.

Emily and Justin’s love for each other is what it is because they trust one another, love one another and have compassion for one another all while being spontaneous and having fun spending time together.

Imperishable Beauty

October 8, 2022 was a gorgeous day for Haley and Brendan’s wedding at Springfield Hall in Groesbeck, Texas! The sun was shining brightly through bright blue skies as a gentle breeze danced throughout the day.

But let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit which is precious in the sight of God.
— 1 Peter 3:4

Haley and Brendan grew up together in Groesbeck, Texas. They even went to the same preschool in nearby Mexia, Texas! Their parents had intertwined lives as both of their dads worked in law enforcement so the two of them grew up together. They spent many “dates” at the local Subway afterschool sharing meals together. But their actual “first date” was watching Brendan’s younger brother play baseball. The two of them officially began dating three weeks before Haley graduated high school in 2017. Brendan was a junior at this time.

After five years of dating, the day finally arrived! Brendan would ask Haley to marry him during a family trip to Concan, Texas. Both of their families were on this getaway to enjoy each other’s company as they relaxed along the Frio River. During one night on the vacation, the Frio River flooded over the bridge to the neighborhood. Everyone rode golf carts down to the flooded river banks to check it out. Soon enough everyone began to head back up the hill to the golf carts and Haley turned around to look for Brendan. She saw him, in the glow of the dimly lit golf cart headlights, down on one knee. Haley asked him what he was doing and he answered her with a question, “Will you marry me?”

Their relationship is full of love, laughter, compassion, devotion and unity. This is evident from watching them interact with each other. But it doesn’t stop there. They both treat others in the same way and it was truly special to witness this throughout their wedding day from getting ready to their first look before the ceremony, as well as the ceremony itself as they included their family in a large prayer circle around them.

I met Haley during her bridal session, but I first met Brendan the day of the wedding. The way he looked at Haley during their first look before the ceremony was something special to witness. They care about each other deeply. Haley loves Brendan’s warmth and his kindness. Brendan loves Haley’s beauty, laugh, and smile, but he truly enjoys what Peter calls the “Imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit,” which is very precious in God’s sight - 1 Peter 3:4

The two of them hope to have a scrapbook of full of adventures some day and one such adventure that will fill many of those pages will be their honeymoon to Seattle, Washington.

Tasha and Allen began their relationship online and eventually they had their first date. They went to an Allen Americans Hockey game. They vividly recall how much fun it was to be around one another as they shared lots of laughter.

The two continued to enjoy their time together as they learned more about each other. They both love traveling so they even took several trips together which further strengthened their relationship. They even developed their own Disney game, since they both love anything and everything Disney! They see who can guess the Disney song first while their on road trips. Fun fact, Tasha and Allen have traveled to NINE countries together!

...and then I realized ADVENTURES are the BEST way to LEARN.
— anonymous

One trip was life changing for them. They went to Niagra Falls and took a tour on the Maid of the Mist which took them directly under the falls. This was the moment that Allen surprised Tasha with a ring as he asked for her hand in marriage!

When they aren’t traveling the world, they often enjoy dinners together at Texas Roadhouse or at a sushi restaurant as well as attending sporting events, game nights or watching movies. They are definitely an adventurous couple that loves having fun together while experiencing new and exciting activities.

When I asked them what they liked best about each other, Allen said he loves how driven Tasha is to meet her goals in life. She’s always up for an adventure and a challenge. And he also likes her bootie! Tasha said she likes Allen’s sense of humor. He will have your cheeks hurting for hours! He knows everything about sports. Even if he didn’t watch the game, he will read about the highlights and then talk about the game like he watched it. She also loves the way he absolutely loves his family.

During their wedding it was obvious how much Tasha and Allen are loved by their family and friends. Many gave toasts to them and had so many wonderful things to say about both of them. In the midst of all the sweet gestures and kind words were lots of laughs - LOTS! The ceremony had so many laughing and smiling as the “shot girls” walked down the aisle tossing out Jell-O shots. The reception kept the laughter going as Allen disappeared after telling Tasha he had a surprise for her. She looked a tad worried and then she heard it…the conversation between Chip and Mrs. Potts from Beauty and the Beast! The song, Tale As Old As Time, began to play and Allen came walking into the room dressed as The Beast. Everyone literally began laughing and pulled out their phones to take photos and videos as he asked for Tasha’s hand so they could share a dance to a Disney song.

Tasha and Allen have such a fun and exciting life together that is not only filled with so much love for one another, but they are literally surrounded by love from their family and friends. It was an absolute pleasure to spend time with them during their engagement session and then spend time with them and their loved ones during their wedding.

Diamonds or Twine...or Paper?

September 9, 2022

The day Alexis and Wesley would say, “I Do” under chandeliers in Calvert, Texas at Under the Chandelier with their family and friends as witnesses.

Where It All Began…

Alexis and Wesley met nine years ago while attending a church camp. The were “together” for two years before they could have their first date. Her parents had a rule that Alexis could go on a date until she turned eighteen years old. Wesley waited patiently for that birthday. When Alexis’s birthday arrived, the two of them went out to their favorite place to eat and then rushed back to make sure Alexis didn’t miss curfew.

They would often visit their favorite park and during one visit they discovered a trail that went to a lake and had a small “island” in the middle. During one such visit to this park, Wesley asked Alexis if she remembered when she said she would marry him with paper rings. She said, “Yes!” He then gave her a paper ring and placed in on her ring finger. She thought it was so cute! Wesley then asked her if she was going to take a picture of the paper ring. Alexis remembers thinking that the question was a bit strange, but she replied, “Of course.” She turned around to snap a cute picture of the ring and when she turned back around to face Wesley she noticed he was opening a small box. He then said, “Well, then would you marry me with this one?”

Alexis and Wesley…

The two of them truly enjoy spending time with one another. Their typical date includes going to Sapporo and eating way too much followed by taking a nap! Their dream vacation includes staying a small cabin in the mountains of Colorado in the fall surrounded by the beautiful views as the colorful leaves dance in the cool breeze as they take hikes everyday - followed by a nap.

Their relationship can be summed up in five words - “Always there for each other.” They are truly best friends. Alexis says she loves that Wesley thinks about others before himself. Wesley says he loves that Alexis is always there for him.

Alexis and Wesley, you two are surrounded by so much love from your family and friends. I am honored you asked me to capture memories from your wedding day. The love that everyone has for you two is literally indescribable and I am beyond blessed that I was able to witness that and capture that for you on your wedding day.

Tale As Old As Time

Gareth and Sarah exchanged vows at The Barn in Lorena, Texas on March 31, 2022. It was a gorgeous day for a wedding complete with a perfect golden sunset as the backdrop for their wedding ceremony.

Where it all began…

In October of 2020 Sarah traveled from Ohio to Central Texas to visit family. During this visit she would meet Gareth at a gospel meeting. The two exchanged phone numbers and began texting one another. When Sarah’s visit came to an end, she went back home to Ohio and the two continued to talk constantly. They even managed to have dates via FaceTime! Their first FaceTime date involved watching the live action Mulan movie followed by talking until after midnight.

Over the next few months they would continue communicating until she moved to Texas in March of 2021. This is when they had their first in-person date. The pair went to dinner at Baris in Waco, Texas. Sarah was incredibly nervous and became sick. They had to end the date early.

The proposal…

Gareth planned on asking Sarah to marry him at the Columbus Zoo over Thanksgiving when they were visiting her family back in Ohio. But that’s not what happened - Gareth couldn’t wait that long! In October of 2021 he went to visit his parents at their house and when he got back he was acting really fidgety and anxious. The next day after church Gareth called Sarah’s sister on FaceTime and proposed in the living room. He said he couldn’t wait another minute!

Sarah and Gareth…

They enjoy spending time with each other as they eat dinner and watch movies. In fact, they told me that the movie that represents their life together is Beauty and the Beast because they both look past the other’s shortcomings and “ugliness” to see the beauty and potential in one another. Sarah loves Gareth’s ability to make her laugh when she feels like crying and Gareth loves seeing Sarah smile.

Sarah and Gareth have a special relationship - one that is built on honesty and strengthened by an endearing love for each other, as well as their family and friends. Throughout their wedding day it was evident that their family and the gospel are an integral part of their lives. With these at the center of their relationship, Sarah and Gareth’s marriage will flourish.

Love each other like the members of your family. Be the best at showing honor to each other.
— Romans 12:10

Sarah and Gareth, you are both incredibly genuine souls - you care about others so much and you’re able to meet each other’s needs, as well as your own, while being mindful about the feelings of your family and friends. Your first dance was a beautiful moment between you two and I am beyond blessed that I was there to capture that moment in time.

Me Before You

You only get one life. It’s actually your duty to live it as fully as possible.
— Jojo Moyes, Me Before You

Ashley and Oscar exchanged vows at Deerfield Estates in Waco, Texas on February 12, 2022. It was extremely cold that day - freezing as a matter of fact! There were even reports of nearby sightings of snow flurries! But this was not going to change Ashley’s mind about having an outdoor wedding.

Where It All Began…

Ashley and Oscar met online where they frequently talked and got to know each other. Eventually they went on their first date which consisted of watching a movie and then going out to dinner. They continued learning about each other as they fell deeper in love with one another. One day, Oscar and Ashley were visiting a park when “IT” happened - Oscar PROPOSED!!

Oscar’s proposal to Ashley (screenshot of the video)

From the moment these met, it was nothing short of amazing. They both say that the first meeting was truly “just love at first sight.”

A typical date night for Ashley and Oscar involve spending time together watching a movie and enjoying dinner afterwards. These two are definitely meant for each other and compliment each other perfectly! I was fortunate enough to spend time with Ashley on a few occasions before her wedding day. We first met at her brother’s wedding and then later I was able to get to know her more during her senior photo session. I love spending time with Ashley! She is gorgeous, extremely genuine and adventurous - and full of smiles! When she asked me to be the photographer for her wedding, I couldn’t wait to spend time with her again. But I also wanted to meet her fiancé. If Ashley fell in love with him, he must be a great guy that makes her an even better person.

In October the two of them had their engagement session so I was able to get to spend time with them and watch them interact with one another. It was obvious the two were smitten with one another, but it was deeper than that. They truly care for one another. Oscar is incredibly kind and caring and puts others first. He makes sure Ashley, as well as others, are taken care of. He is a hard worker and is passionate about his job within the military. He makes sure he is showing Ashley just how much he loves her through his calm, gentle demeanor. Ashley knows how important his job is and is able to work around that part of Oscar’s life. She admires him for all he does for her, as well as others. She loves how selfless he is. Oscar says Ashley is amazing and so funny. He loves how Ashley loves him and wants him to succeed in all that he does.

October 2021 - Ashley and Oscar during their engagement session

The Wedding…

Oscar and Ashley’s dream vacation is a cozy cabin in the woods with snow falling outside as they’re snuggled up under cozy blankets enjoying a cup of hot chocolate. Knowing this makes so much about their wedding day on February 12th make sense!

The temperature outside was literally freezing and Ashley wanted to be barefoot during the ceremony - which was outside. It was so cold as we waited for the ceremony to begin, however after Ashley and Oscar were in place at the altar it suddenly didn’t feel quite as cold outside. Witnessing the two of them promise to love each other forever took your mind off the weather. What was happening right in front of us was certainly heartwarming!

Ashley and Oscar are truly blessed to have such a strong family support system behind them. Oscar’s parents are divorced, but have remarried. His parents both remarried wonderful people who care deeply for Oscar and Ashley. They sit together, talk together, and just enjoy being around each other. You’d never know they went through a divorce. The amount of respect they all have for one another is breathtaking.

As the day progressed, everyone on both sides of the family just intermingled as if they were one big family celebrating Ashley and Oscar. It was truly amazing to witness. The two of them are definitely made for each other ❤

A family that supports one another thrives.

Imagine finding both love and friendship in one person.

Where it all began…

Friend request sent. Friend request accepted.

Tiffany and Jacob originally became friends through Facebook. Jacob liked Tiffany’s photos. Tiffany liked Jacob’s photos. Jacob remained silent, saying nothing at all. Tiffany decided to message Jacob first.

Eventually the two would meet on Sunday, June 28, 2019 at an Applebee’s near Somerville, Texas. Jacob drove from Deer Park and Tiffany drove from Temple, Texas. Tiffany made sure to arrive first so she would have time to make sure her hair and makeup was absolutely perfect. She remembers thinking to herself, “Lord, please let this first meeting go well.”

Soon after Tiffany’s arrival, Jacob arrived. He opened the door, got out of his truck and walked around to Tiffany’s car to meet her. She remembers thinking, “Oh man, he’s so hot!”

Their lunch date lasted for hours! Tiffany just kept talking! She wanted Jacob to know her entire life story. Jacob barely ate or spoke throughout the entire lunch. Eventually the two decided to continue the date by getting into Jacob’s truck and driving to Somerville Lake. The date would last five more hours! From that very day, the two of them found a way to be together every chance they could get.

The proposal…

Saturday, May 1, 2020 was the day Jacob would propose to Tiffany. He had a plan that began with having his parents babysit the kids the two of them could have a date night. They went to 1424 Bistro in Waco, Texas. The setting was so romantic! They enjoyed a delicious dinner and as their meal came to an end the waitstaff asked if they’d like dessert. Tiffany always gets chocolate so she placed her order for dessert. Earlier Jacob had the waitstaff write, “Tiffany, will you marry me?” on the plate along with the chocolate cake she would order. The waitstaff brought out the chocolate cake and Tiffany noticed everyone standing around with their cellphones recording. She assumed it was someone’s birthday that was seated near them. Jacob stood up and walked around to Tiffany’s side of the table. He had Tiffany stand up and he proceeded to get down on one knee as he asked her to marry him. She then realized that the entire restaurant was in on the whole thing!

The wedding…

Tiffany and Jacob exchanged vows on November 20, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West, Texas. This church holds a special meaning for the two of them. Jacob’s parents and grandparents were also married in that very church.

November 20, 2021 was a gorgeous day for a wedding complete with bright blue skies, blustery winds and warm sunshine! Their wedding was complete with a traditional Catholic ceremony followed by a reception with their closest family and friends celebrating alongside them. They enjoyed dinner followed by cake and LOTS of dancing! Everyone was genuinely happy for the lovely couple. They have an incredible amount of love for each other, their children and their family and friends. They are truly blessed.

Blessed are the ones who have friends like family and family like friends.

Coming Back Home

Their wedding day will be a new chapter in their beautiful love story ❤…

October 23, 2021 was a gorgeous autumn day with bright blue skies filled with warm sunshine at Springfield Hall in Groesbeck, Texas. It was a perfect day for Sarah and Barrett to exchange vows!

When I asked the two of them what their typical date nights looked like they said they enjoy spending time with each other’s friends and family members. As I watched Sarah and Barrett throughout the progression of their wedding day, one thing was clearly evident. Both of them care deeply about their family and friends. Sarah and Barrett are honestly best friends that enjoy hanging out with each other. Barrett has a natural way of making Sarah laugh and she loves every single minute of it!

Sarah and Barrett truly had a wedding that was unlike any other complete with white sheer fabric draped through the rafters, chandeliers lined with stings of pearls, an official sixpence, along with many other unique details, but perhaps the greatest detail of all was their wedding taking place on the 51st anniversary of Sarah’s grandparents.

A happy marriage is about three things: memories of togetherness, forgiveness of mistake and promise to never give up on each other.

Top Venues for a Fall Wedding in Central Texas

In Central Texas, autumn is a perfect time to have an outdoor wedding. The summer months are typically very hot with temperatures hovering near or above 100 degrees with fairly high humidity levels. The winter months are often too cold for an outdoor wedding. Spring is definitely a great choice for mild temperatures, however rain chances are often high during the spring in Central Texas. The fall months (September, October and November) are considered “the best” months to exchange vows at an outdoor ceremony due to the mild weather which consists of lower humidity levels, temperatures and rain chances.

Considerations when searching for an autumn wedding venue:

  1. Variety of Space. The first thing that should be considered when choosing a wedding venue is the variety of the space. Many couples plan for an outdoor ceremony, but what happens if it rains? Are there other options besides an outdoor ceremony under an oak tree? Perhaps there is a covered pavilion or an enclosed indoor space? Is there air conditioning if the weather is warmer than normal? Likewise, is there heat? The more options there are, the better.

  2. Size. Another aspect to consider is the size of your guest list. You definitely want a space that can accommodate the size of your guest list so everyone can be comfortable.

  3. Look and Style. Rustic barn type venues are so popular right now - and have been for awhile! That look and style is all the rage at the moment, however some couples don’t envision “rustic” when they say, “I Do.” Are you able to envision your dream wedding in that space?

  4. Price Tag. This piece is HUGE - especially during a pandemic! What is the rental fee? What is included in that fee? What is the refund policy? Do they offer discounts for certain days of the week or months? How much is the deposit? Is any part of the deposit refundable? Do they offer a payment plan? Get ALL of the details in writing! I have heard so many horror stories from clients that had their wedding date canceled due to COVID and received zero dollars back. Please don’t let that happen to you!

  5. Location. Texas is large state with thousands of gorgeous wedding venues! Which venues are conveniently located to you and the majority of your guests? Are there nearby accommodations for those guests that will be traveling to attend your wedding?

  6. Equipment. Does the venue have the lighting that you desire? What about sound? After all, this is your BIG day and I’m sure you want to look beautiful and be heard.

Some of my favorite Central Texas wedding venues for a fall wedding are:

  • Springfield Hall, Groesbeck - I absolutely love this venue! Not only is it beautiful, but it has so many options to make your wedding day exactly what you have dreamt! It can be rustic, but can also be classic. There is a hall complete with a full kitchen, a covered patio and a pavilion. I have seen weddings take place on the lawn, in the hall and in the pavilion. There are definitely options for inclement weather. Another reason I love this venue is that the lighting is gorgeous! It is evident that thought was put into the layout of the building. As the sun sets it fills the hall with the perfect amount of light. It’s definitely something you need to see for yourself!

  • Vintage Oaks Ranch, Axtell - A venue with many decorative items available for use to make your vision come to life! Vintage Oaks Ranch is nestled within mature oak trees which provide a canopy over the outdoor ceremony area. There is a large hall which can be utilized in case there is inclement weather. The outdoor area has vintage trucks, silos, trees, etc. to use for photo opportunities as well. Any space under a canopy of trees is perfect for a fall wedding!

  • The Barn, Hewitt - A charming venue for both outdoor and indoor weddings! There is plenty of room inside for a band, dancing and plenty of seating. There is also a bar area with space for drink machines and/or kegs. The outside space is stunning as The Barn sits atop a small hill with a spectacular view of the Central Texas Sunset, complete with a rustic farm truck for unique portraits.

  • Wind Dancer Retreat, Bryan - This venue is stunning! It is rustic, yet elegant and unique. The landscaping of the property is beautiful and provides a variety of options for your wedding day including an outdoor wedding pavilion surrounded by large trees and the calming sound of water. There is also a rustic wedding chapel with a cedar entrance, pine interior walls and a fireplace. The colors of fall compliment this property perfectly!

  • Common Grounds Waco, Waco - Common Grounds is the perfect wedding venue for those mild autumn nights when you crave coffee and other warm drinks! They have a large backyard area complete with a stage. This popular coffee shop is located near the Baylor campus. There is a parking garage nearby to accommodate all the guests’ vehicles. This venue is typically not thought of when considering wedding venues, however a coffee shop backyard is absolutely perfect for an outdoor wedding.

Over the Years: The Wimer Family

The other day I was talking to my favorite person (my grandma Jo) on the phone and we ended up talking about the career paths we chose.  She was a nurse for most of her adult working years and I was an elementary school teacher for five years until I decided to resign and begin my photography business.  She told me there have been times when she thought about doing something besides nursing, but looking back now she couldn't imagine doing anything else.  She LOVED nursing!  Then she asked me what I career I would have chosen if I could start all over again.  As I thought, I honestly couldn't think of any other career choices I would have made.

I loved teaching, but I didn't love the confines of teaching.  I loved that no two days were ever the same.  I loved having to adapt and be flexible throughout the day as different situations arose.  I loved the students and coworkers.  But I did not love the schedule.  I felt very confined.  When I decided to resign I immediately felt a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders and I could now breathe freely.

I absolutely LOVE being a photographer!  I love nearly everything about it - besides paying taxes.  I love making my own schedule.  I love creating wall art for families that will be treasured for years to come.  I love it when clients tell me that my work captures so many emotions.  But most of all I love meeting new people and connecting with them!  I love to capture them year after year and create beautiful wall art that showcases their family!  For this reason I have decided to begin a series which focuses on my loyal clients over the years titled, "Over the Years."

THE WIMER FAMILY

I met the Wimer Family in November of 2018 when they hired me to photograph the adoption of one of their children at an adoption ceremony at the Baylor Law School in Waco, Texas. The ceremony was held on November 16, 2018, which was a day that one of my younger children happened to have an early release from school so I had to bring her along. I asked the Wimer Family if my daughter, Lily, could come with me and they assured me that she was welcome and would enjoy herself at the event. They definitely were not kidding! The inside of the building was decorated in a Polar Express theme complete with arts, crafts, games and various activities. The best part of the entire day was the adoption ceremony for each family, including the Wimer Family. Through this one event, Lily and one of the Wimer children developed a friendship. To this day the two are friends. They don’t see each other nearly often enough (they have lots of children and we also have lots of children so we’re both very busy), but friendships were definitely made that day. I adore this sweet and fun family so much and look forward to photographing them for the years to come.

Lily made a new friend!

November is recognized at National Adoption Awareness Month and in 2019 I decided to celebrate by offering discounted mini sessions to families that have adopted at least one child. The Wimer Family adopted SIX! The Wimer Family had something come up and they were no longer able to participate in our November Adoption Awareness Mini Session event and asked to reschedule for a Christmas Session. What better way to wrap up 2019 than seeing these sweet faces at our Christmas Mini Session event in McGregor, Texas!

I continued to photograph the Wimer Family throughout 2020. The COVID pandemic hit the United States in March and everyone was staying home as much as possible in an effort to slow the spread of the virus. In June of 2020 I ventured out to meet the Wimer Family for a Summer Mini Session. There were so many laughs during this session because one of the children refused to cooperate by looking at the camera. The plan had to change if I was going to be successful at capturing a photo of all six children. Instead of looking at the camera and smiling I had the kids interact with each other, just like they would if they were actually have a picnic in the park.

In August of 2020 the Wimer Family contacted me asking for a quick session while family was in town. I had a Fall Mini Session setup I wanted to try out so I asked for her help in return. A win-win situation for both of us!

I have known the Coslin Family for several years - after all, we are family! Kelsey and Hunter live in Ennis, Texas so we only saw them a couple times of year at family functions. I had the opportunity to spend more time with them when they got engaged and later when they exchanged vows. Fast forward a few years and they are now a family of four! They make the drive from Ennis to Ben Hur throughout the year to have updated photos of their family taken at various mini session events. It has truly been a pleasure to get to know this family as they continue to grow and I absolutely love being their family photographer.

Sunflowers and Girly Drinks? YES, PLEASE!

Barrett and Sarah both attended Groesbeck High School. The two never spoke to one another during high school, but they both knew who the other was. Their grandmothers often told them individually that they should get together, but their words fell on deaf ears.

Time goes by and by chance they were both at a concert where they began talking a little bit. Sarah noticed that Barrett was drinking a “girly drink” and asked him why he wasn’t drinking a beer instead. Barrett replied, “I think I’m allergic…” as he proceeded to take out his phone to show Sarah a picture he took of his hives, “…ignore my butt-crack.”

The two continued talking and eventually decided to go on a date. They went to dinner in Waco, where Barrett’s brother named Blaine was living at the time. Barrett picked up Sarah for their dinner date. After dinner Barrett asked Sarah if she wanted to stop by Blaine’s apartment to visit because he hadn’t seen him in awhile. So Sarah and Barrett visited Blaine at his apartment on their first date!

December 25, 2020 was THE day! THE day Barrett would propose to Sarah! They were exchanging gifts and Barrett went to another room to get Sarah’s gift. He told her to close her eyes and he approached Sarah. Barrett was so nervous that he couldn’t say anything! He just got down on one knee and showed her the ring as he was smiling. Sarah began crying and said, “YES!”

December 25, 2020 - Barrett asked Sarah to marry him and she said, “YES!”

Barrett and Sarah chose a stunning location for their engagement session! Sarah fell in love with the location while they were riding around as they were spending time together. The property is a special place that’s been in Barrett’s family for many years. His family actually used to live out there! During the summer months, the property is literally covered in sunflowers kissed by the warm glow of a Texas sunset.

Happiness isn’t about getting what you want all the time. It’s about loving what you have and being grateful for it.

What to Wear: Maternity

You’ve scheduled your portrait session and suddenly you begin to wonder what outfits you should wear. Outfits can make or break a portrait session and shouldn’t go overlooked. After all, you want to look your absolute best! For this reason, I decided to create a series titled, “What to Wear,” in which I will give you ideas with regards to your outfits for each type of portrait session - Engagement, Family, Maternity and Lifestyle Newborn.

Maternity Portrait Sessions

Most clients choose to purchase their maternity outfits from Amazon (great variety) or borrow one of the dresses I have available for client use from our Client Closet. Whichever outfit you choose, there are some things to consider to help you look your very best.

flattering silhouette

The number one thing to look for when planning what to wear for your maternity session is an outfit that is flattering for your silhouette. You want to look pregnant with a cute, round belly. Some characteristics to look for are:

  • a dress/top that shows off your cute tummy - either tight at the top to just above the belly OR tight at the top and tight over your belly

  • a dress/bottoms that are full length

color

You want to have portraits that show off your beautiful baby bump so make sure to choose a color that you love and are comfortable wearing. You want to feel gorgeous and confident! Another consideration should be the gender of your child. Most clients go one step further and take the baby’s gender into consideration when choosing a color to wear to their maternity session.

Patterns and texture

Solid colors are timeless. Many maternity dresses include texture with the solid color, such as lace or crepe fabrics. But patterns can be an amazing choice as well. With that being said, patterns can by a tad tricky. You need a nice, medium sized pattern that isn’t too busy. If you choose something too small, it can give the appearance of being too busy and is a distraction to the viewer. If you choose something too large, it is not flattering.

dress for the season

Consider the season when choosing your maternity outfit. If it is hot outside, choose a breathable fabric. If it’s cold outside, look for long sleeves and add a cardigan to your look. You can wear it off your shoulders for your portrait and then wrap it around you to warm up.

avoid matching your family

The key here is coordinate, not match. If you are wearing the same colors, you will blend together. It can seem logical to have everyone wear the same color shirt, but it really does make everyone blend together for those portraits when everyone is close to one another. There are so many great ideas on Pinterest about coordinating outfits for photo sessions.

bring an extra outfit

An extra outfit is great to give your gallery some variety. While a nice maternity dress is great for those more posed, formal images, an outfit that is more casual that truly defines your style is great for capturing you in a more natural state.

client closet

We have several dresses to choose from within our Client Closet. If you don’t see what you’re looking for there, feel free to let me know what you are looking for. Sometimes I will buy the dress from you so I can add it to my collection.

The use of one dress is included in our “Just the Bump” maternity session. All dresses are cleaned after each use.

Never Let Go

May 29, 2021 was a very hot, humid day at Reverie @ Diamond D in Normangee, Texas. The sun was shining brightly in the blue sky. It was a beautiful day for two to be united.

Tabatha and James would exchange vows surrounded by their family and friends underneath a canopy on a dock over a pond with the sunlight peeking underneath to gently kiss them, as if it was giving them a blessing from above.

Tabatha and James met while working at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Ferguson Unit, in Midway, Texas. Eventually they had their first date at Gilberto’s in Fairfield, Texas. They enjoyed getting to know each other as they talked, laughed and listened to each other. Later James would propose on Christmas Day. Tabatha and the kids were opening gifts and when she looked up, James was down on one knee asking her for her hand in marriage.

Tabatha and James compliment each other. They build each other up on a day to day basis. They both have so much respect for the other. They truly admire one another. And they have fun while doing so! Tabatha often speaks encouraging words to James. He says Tabatha grows him like water and dirt grow a plant. Tabatha says that James often uses parables to help her work through challenging situations. Through these parables he tells her to go about solving the problem by looking at it from a different angle. The two know how to support each other when times are good, as well as when times are challenging.

Marriage is like a garden, it takes time to grow but the harvest is rich unto those who patiently and tenderly care for the ground.

Bagels and Coffee

We can learn a lot from trees; they’re always grounded, but never stop reaching heavenward.
— Everett Mamor

Beneath a canopy of pecan trees on a warm, sunny day, Victoria and Brennen would say, “I Do,” on May 15, 2021. The two love being surrounded by green trees so this particular location on Victoria’s grandparents property in Groesbeck, Texas, was absolutely perfect.

Where It All Began…

Victoria and Brennen began talking to each other through a dating app called Coffee Meets Bagel. Eventually they decided that they should meet and they did just that. They met at Black Walnut Cafe and enjoyed fancy grilled cheese sandwiches while Brennen talked Victoria’s ears off! Afterwards they walked around the park at the Shops at Legacy in Plano, Texas.

On March 9, 2020 Brennen proposed to Victoria at Devils Bridge in Sedona, Arizona while they were on vacation with Victoria’s family. They had just hiked a four mile trail up a mountain and on the way back down, they took a break. During this break, Brennen got down on one knee and asked Victoria for her hand in marriage on the side of a huge rock that was overlooking the mountain valley in front of her family.

To this day, there isn’t a day that goes by where one of them doesn’t crack the other one up with some silly joke or gesture. Victoria says she’s constantly laughing and saying, “You are stupid!,” while wiping laughing tears out of her eyes.

They enjoy spending time together and often have date nights which typically include grabbing a meal curbside from a restaurant and going home to watch a movie with ice cream or going out to eat followed by exploring random stores on the way home.

Brennen loves that Victoria is supportive, caring, hard-working and nerdy. Victoria loves that Brennen is creative, has the ability to calm her down when she’s stressed out and tells great jokes which make her laugh.

Their Wedding Day…

Victoria and Brennen wanted a wedding ceremony that took place among green trees and a reception that was full of laughter, fun and memories. Their wedding day was all that and more! The ceremony took place on Victoria’s grandparents property with plenty of mature pecan trees. Brennen stood at the altar with the officiant (Victoria’s grandmother) and his best man, waiting for his beautiful bride to be escorted down the aisle by her father. Victoria’s entrance was unique. She sat on the back of a Corvette convertible as her dad drove her to the beginning of the aisle. He put the car in park and proceeded to walk her down the aisle to Brennen to give away his little girl.

After the ceremony everyone traveled to the Groesbeck Convention Center for the reception. As they made their entrance, the two immediately went into their first dance. You could definitely see how happy the two are together!

dancing blog.jpg

After they shared their first dance, it was the Father/Daughter Dance followed the Mother/Son Dance. During both of these dances, the newlyweds invited ALL father/daughter and mother/son duos to dance with them! There were so many smiles from everyone in the room!

The dancing continued throughout the evening and there was plenty of laughter shared! Memories were made.
